The full length gold gown was made out of 254 real (but expired) American Express cards, The American Express Gold Card Dress, designed by Lizzy Gardiner, was initially created for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert but was prohibited by American Express. Gardiner wore the Costume designer Lizzy Gardiner wearing a dress made by herself to the 1995 Academy Awards. The dress was made with permission from American Express who provided her with 254 authentic (expired) cards. :
